Dans un souffle de mots et de notes échangées, susurrées presque parfois, les protagonistes de Baldwin en Transit déploient leurs ailes pour planer au-dessus et creuser dedans les territoires explorés par James Baldwin en son temps.
C’est une histoire d’amour.

En deux ans de travail depuis sa création en 2021, le projet n’a cessé d’évoluer au gré des rencontres, des cessions jusqu’au moment où tout le monde jugea qu’il était temps d’enregistrer car l’interplay entre les poètes et les musiciens était mature, la parole circulait librement presque sans contrainte sauf celle de construire ensemble.
Le contrepoint qui se dessine au fur et à mesure de l’écoute entremêle les fils tendus par chacun, comme mené par des aiguilles expertes qui se croisent et s’entrecroisent et finalement l’ouvrage apparait dans son entièreté, dans sa singulière beauté.
C’est une histoire de fluidité et d’articulation.

Dans une relation d’altérité, il y a comme un engagement réciproque, une responsabilité de l’un vis-à-vis de l’autre. Ce projet dit de cela, de la découverte d’autrui, de la reconnaissance du visage de l’autre.

In a breath of words and notes exchanged, whispered almost sometimes, the protagonists of Baldwin en Transit spread their wings to glide above but also to dive into territories explored by James Baldwin in his time.
It is a love story.

In the two years since its creation in 2021, the project has evolved continuously, through countless encounters and sessions until everyone decided it was time to record, because the interplay between poets and musicians had matured, and words flowed freely, almost without constraint, except the constraint of building together.

The counterpoint that emerges from listening are crisscrossed threads pulled taut by each, as if strung through expert needles that interweave and intertwine, until finally the work appears in its entirety, in its singular beauty.
It is a story of fluidity and articulation.

You don't know what it's like to be black and a man?
In a relationship of otherness, there is a kind of reciprocal commitment, a responsibility of one to the Other. This project is about that, about discovering the Other, and recognition of the Other’s face.
